Allure honors excellence in Korean skincare

Every year, a wide range of cosmetics brands – from make-up and skincare to accessories – receive the "Allure Beauty Awards". The winners of the 2023 edition were announced on September 21. Here are the Korean products honored this year.

Allure's beauty Awards

Since 1996, the Allure Beauty Awards have been an annual recognition given by Allure magazine, highlighting outstanding beauty products in a variety of categories.

The awards are based on a rigorous assessment by Allure's editorial team, who test and review thousands of products every year. Winners are chosen on the basis of criteria such as innovation, efficiency and quality. Products are then listed in 14 categories: Skin, Hair, Sensitive, Tools, Base, Eyes, Lips, Body, Breakthroughs, Nails, Scent, Clean, Steals and conversely, the Splurges.

Allure's Beauty Awards have a long and influential history, and are regarded as prestigious distinctions by both consumers and the beauty and cosmetics industry.

The 2023 Korean selection

This year, Allure singles out 391 products that have won the trust of the magazine's editors and thus earned the ultimate seal of approval. Among these, we find several Korean products that tend to stand out, particularly in the Skincare category.

1. Saturday Skin Melt + Cleanse Makeup Melting Balm

2. KraveBeauty Beet the Sun SPF 40 PA+++

3. Innisfree Daily UV Defense Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 36

4. IOPE Retinol Expert 0.1%

5. Rael Miracle Clear Soothing Spot Gel

6. Laneige Cream Skin 2-in-1 Toner & Moisturizer

7. AHC Aqualuronic Toner

These products have been singled out for specific reasons. For example, IOPE's serum stands out for its stable concentration of retinol and its pointed tube applicator that allows an optimal precision. Laneige's 2-in-1, editor in chief Jessica Cruel's favorite, stands out as a hybrid moisturizer – between creamy and liquid texture.

The latter two, along with Innisfree's sunscreen, appeared in the magazine's Korean brand guide back in July, testifying to a real craze for these formulas.

Glow Recipe also received the award for Best Untinted Lip Balm with the Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Lip Gloss Balm in the Lips category.

Be careful not to confuse the Beauty Awards with the Allure Readers' Choice Awards, which are chosen not by the magazine's editorial team but by its readers. Last May, out of tens of thousands of votes cast, the team settled on 10 skincare products, including Glow Recipe's Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops Serum and Laneige's Lip Sleeping Mask.
